Former Nice and Paris St-Germain manager Christophe Galtier has been acquitted of harassment and discrimination by a French court.

Galtier was accused of saying there were too many black and Muslim players in his squad, and encouraging Muslim players to break their fast in Ramadan during his time at Nice.

The 57-year-old was arrested in June towards the end of his tenure at PSG.

He denied making the remarks in a trial earlier this month.

Following his arrest, Galtier was charged with "moral harassment and discrimination on the grounds of actual or supposed membership or non-membership of a particular ethnic group, nation, alleged race or religion".

Prosecutors requested he be handed a one-year suspended prison sentence and heavy fine.

Galtier, who is now managing Qatari side Al Duhail, was absent when the verdict was announced in a Nice courthouse.
