Local high school sports teams put on a show on Nov. 29 in Saucon, Valparaiso, Marin and Santa Cruz counties in California. In basketball, the Soquel boys' basketball team defeated Soledad 68-44 with Nico Ramirez scoring 16 points to lead his team to victory, and the Watsonville girl

Nico Ramirez scored 16 points, and the Soquel High boys basketball team beat Soledad 68-44 in nonleague play on Wednesday.

Payton Jones scored 14 points for the Knights, who are missing several starters currently competing for the school's football team in the CIF state playoffs. Conner Corbett added 11 points.

Pablo Morales scored 17 points to lead Soledad.

Soquel (1-2) faces Oakwood, the defending Central Coast Section Division V finalist, to open play in the Watsonville Tournament on Wednesday.

Freshman Torrin Miller and sophomore Nikan Jayo scored in the Knights' nonleague win Wednesday night.

Junior goalie Andrew Bucio made five saves for the Knights.

Harbor and Watsonville Boys Soccer Tie

The Wildcatz knotted the score on a penalty kick in the 80th minute in the teams' nonleague game Wednesday.

Maury Martinez scored for Harbor in the 26th minute on an assist from Romeo Marin.

Goalie Max Cuevas made four saves for the Pirates.

Harbor (0-0-1) play at Monte Vista Christian on Friday at 7 p.m.

Watsonville Girls Basketball Wins Consolation Game at Fremont Tournament

Sophomore center Leilani Yasin had 12 points, seven rebounds and three steals to help the Wildcatz win their consolation game at the Fremont Tournament in Sunnyvale on Wednesday.

Senior forward Isabella Love had eight points, three steals, and two assists.

Fernanda Lazo had eight points and six rebounds, and Hailey Brooks had five points and three steals.

Watsonville (2-1) faces The King's Academy in consolation play Thursday at 5 p.m.

Mountain View Girls Basketball Beats Monte Vista Christian

Sophia Cortes made four 3-pointers and scored a team-high 14 points in the Mustangs' nonleague loss on Wednesday.

Junior guard Gia Herrera scored 11 points for the Mustangs, who rallied from an early deficit to trailed by four points at the half.

MVC (2-2) plays Harbor in the Jacob's Heart Shootout at Santa Cruz High on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.

Westmont Girls Basketball Beats Soquel

Ana Mauer scored 12 points in the Knights' nonleague loss Wednesday.

Amelie Stotland chipped in with seven points for Soquel.
