Romelu Lukaku scored his 20th goal in 17 Europa League matches as Roma settled for a knockout play-off round place after beating Sheriff Tiraspol.

Lukaku gave Jose Mourinho's side an 11th-minute lead and Andrea Belotti added another before half-time.

Belgian Lukaku then assisted Niccolo Pisilli for an injury-time third goal as Roma ran out comfortable winners.

The Italians finished second in Group G behind Slavia Prague who beat Servette 4-0 to go straight into the last 16.

Last season's runners-up Roma will now have to play in the knockout play-off round of the competition, where they will face a side who finished third in the Champions League group stages.

Lukaku, though, continues to shine in Europe.

Nobody has scored more goals in the tournament this season than the former Chelsea and Manchester United forward, who has netted five times in six games.

In October the 30-year-old scored in his 14th consecutive Europa League match as Roma beat Slavia Prague 2-0.

And, despite being unable to find the net in his side's subsequent Europa League tie in Prague, Lukaku has since scored once in each of Roma's past two European matches.
